Honors College Committee

The Honors College Committee is comprised of seven faculty members. Of these faculty members, there is one representative from each of the following schools: School of Humanities and Social Sciences; School of Sciences and Mathematics; School of Business; School of the Arts; School of Languages, Cultures and World Affairs; and School of Education, Health, and Human Performance. The seventh faculty member is an at-large member of the committee. Of the aforementioned seven faculty members, four of them shall have taught recently in the Honors College. Also on this committee are two student representatives (one junior and one senior), whom are selected by the Honors Committee from students nominated by the Honors student body. The Dean of the Honors College (or the Dean’s designee) is an ex-officio, non-voting member of this committee; the dean may also invite other Honors faculty and staff to participate as ex-officio, non-voting members.

The committee is responsible for reviewing student applications for admission into the Honors College, and for reviewing faculty course proposals and selecting Honors College courses. Additionally, the committee reviews and applies policy concerning the Honors College curriculum, admission and retention standards, and course selection procedures. Should a student, faculty member, school, or department submit a written request for exception from Honors College regulations, the committee will review and make recommendations on that request. The committee also reviews information from the Dean of the Honors College concerning Honors College admissions, retention, curriculum, and other matters pertaining to the Honors College.
